Watch! The Story of Cosmetics Video with Annie Leonard

How much do you worry about the stuff that is in your shampoo, your sunscreen, your lipstick? If you're reading Spa and took the time to visit our blog, we're guessing you search out products with high-quality, healthy ingredients.

We pay attention to the ingredients in cosmetics here at Spa a lot ... that's why we cover green beauty products and spa-grade products, and that's why we were thrilled to see that Annie Leonard (the person behind The Story of Stuff) has taken on the cosmetics industry in her most recent video, The Story of Cosmetics.

In the video, which you can watch below, Leonard points out how toxic some of the ingredients in typical beauty products can be (even ingredients in baby shampoo!) and laments the fact that there are currently no laws protecting consumers from those ingredients.

But she also offers a bit of hope: You can make a difference by adding your voice to the calls for reform by joining the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and supporting the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2010.
