Rituals Store Caters to Senses

While killing time in London's Heathrow Airport in May, I stumbled across the first airport location of Rituals, which opened in February. Before last month, I was unfamiliar with this Netherlands-based chain that operates throughout Europe.

The Rituals store was a soothing place to spend a few minutes browsing, especially after a nine-hour flight. According to founder Raymond Cloosterman, the company was designed to provide a "journey for the senses" through wares inspired by authentic Eastern rituals.

Unlike some beauty stores that just sell lotion and potions, Rituals evokes many aspects of the spa experience. There are skincare lines and gemstone-based makeup, but the stores also offer an array of spa-at-home products: herbal teas, scented candles, plush robes, and even statues based on Eastern philosophies and traditions.

The brand has yet to venture into the U.S., but be sure to check them out online, or the next time you’re traveling across the pond.
