Do Flower Essences Really Work? A 4-Week Test with Lotus Wei (Part 4)

Lotus is a flower essence found in all Lotus Wei products.

I’m wrapping up my final week of a 4-week test with Lotus Wei flower essences—elixirs containing energetic infusions of flowers to enhance your state of mind.

I started the test with Inspired Action, a mix of five flower essences designed to inspire creativity, enhance motivation, and foster spiritual insight. Although the weeks that followed brought about some noticeable results, last week I was confident that I’d had enough and I was ready to move on.

Now, I admit I may have spoken too soon.

Week 4 Results: This week made me realize that you don’t really know how much the flower essences have affected you until you stop taking them. From Week 1 through to Week 3, I was feeling productive and focused. But after two days off Inspired Action, I was struggling to finish my to-do list. So instead of starting my dose of Infinite Love, I found myself once again reaching for the yellow bottle.

Then I wondered if flower essences were in any way addictive. Katie Hess, organic alchemist and founder of Lotus Wei, assured me they were not, but also said that once we have achieved that feel-good state, we become more aware of the times when we don’t feel so good.

I immediately thought of my yoga practice: During a good week, when I’m able to make it to three or more classes, I stand taller, breathe easier, and tackle even the most stressful tasks with ease. During a bad week, when I’m unable to make it to class at all, I can feel every knot in my shoulders, neck, and back. I’m irritable. I sigh a lot. And above anything else, I long for that good-week feeling when life seems effortless.

Final Verdict:
So maybe flower essences are a lot like yoga (or any wellness activity). They’re there to remind us how we’re supposed to feel. We can take them—or not. But when we do, we’re certainly better for it.
