We all know fresh air is good for you, and while you may not think of the packed streets of New York City as the best prescription for some of it, you’d actually be surprised.
Just head inside to The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental, New York, which – with the help of Oxygen Pur Spa technology –just filled their men’s and women’s Vitality Pools with oxygen-intensified healing water. The dissolved oxygen, which is absorbed through the skin, packs a punch 20 times more powerful than tap water. Doctors have been prescribing oxygen therapy for decades for several reasons: better skin respiration (which in turn reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles), toxin release, increased circulation and elevated energy levels. Sign us up!
Access to the Vitality Pools is complimentary with any treatment experience.

Looking for somewhere to get away to this winter? Viceroy Snowmass in Aspen re-opens for the season on November 19, and we’re itching to hit the slopes.
Back in June, the two-year old property was the first hotel in Aspen to receive LEED Gold Certification. The 7,000 square foot spa has six treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge (pictured), and incredible pool and spa area. Signature holistic rituals are the influence of the Ute Indian tribe, including one of our faves, the Ute Sundance Ritual (120 minutes, $340) — a hot salt soak, Shea butter body wrap, hot oil scalp treatment and full body massage. Sounds perfect for warming up inside after a long day of skiing the slopes.
Bonus Deal: Viceroy Snowmass’ spa is offering 15% spa services between November 19 and November 30, 2011.
Check out some other LEED-Certified Spa Resorts in our gallery.

Planning a summer spa vacation, but don’t want to break the bank? We talked to consumer travel expert Andrea Woroch last week, and she shared some of her go-to tips for traveling on a budget. Here are a few of our favorites:
Enjoy membership perks. Says Andrea: “Membership in clubs like AAA or even credit cards can provide some unexpected travel benefits. AAA members can find discounts at hotels, restaurants and local merchants. They'll also hook you up with complimentary tour books and travel maps.”
Discover Off-Peak Destinations. With nearly four-million square miles of land area, the U.S. is a big country. This means there are nearly unlimited places to travel. Destinations in California, like Los Angeles and San Francisco, are some of the most popular spots, but they're also the most expensive. If you think outside the box, you'll find some really cool locations to have a unique vacation without the crowds.
Travel with apps. “Smart phones go where you go, meaning they can help you save while you're on vacation. If you're taking a road trip, the GasBuddy app can find the lowest prices on gas for every leg of your journey. After fueling up the car, Meal Ticket will help track down coupons and reviews for nearby restaurants.”
Where are you going on vacation this summer? Head on over to our Facebook page and let us know!

I had a lot of firsts this past weekend: my first visit to Cabo San Lucas in Baja California, Mexico (beautiful!), my first experience climbing a rock and jumping into the Bay of Cortez (terrifying!), and my favorite new experience: my first ever four hands massage.
I spent the past few days at the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort & Spa in Cabo San Lucas (pictured is the view from my balcony!), and on Saturday afternoon I was treated to a couple of hours in the onsite Armonia Spa, which was a perfect reprieve after the previous day’s kayaking and aforementioned rock jumping. After a lavender scrub and body wrap performed by two therapists, it was time for the Invigorating Four Hands Massage.
It was strange at first, feeling simultaneous pairs of hands mimicking each other’s movements on either side of my body. At first I didn’t know where to focus, but after a couple minutes, I forgot about that worry and gave in to the relaxation. Follow that up with a few hours on one of the resort’s beachfront daybeds, and it was the perfect way to spend my day.

A couple weeks ago, I spent an afternoon at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (you’ll see more about that in our Summer issue, out June 21), and experienced the spa’s signature Aurum Manus Massage — a special type of crystal and gemstone therapy developed by famed masseuse Ricky Welch. Not only is the Grand Floridian Spa the only place in the country that offers this treatment, but only a handful of the spa’s therapists are trained in the holistic therapy.
Rather than having stones placed and left on strategic parts of the body, the therapist actually incorporated them into the massage technique, first using a pair of stonalites and a jade stone (covered in warm oils), then a room-temperature crystal ball (that actually felt much colder to the touch).
The stones, along with a combination of wide massage strokes and deeper reflexology techniques, are used to stimulate the body’s energy meridians. The therapy has been proven to help those suffering from tinnitus and migraines, and after I was finished, I could see why. I certainly felt relaxed after the 80-minute treatment, but at the same time, more clear-headed and energized.
