LiTya Quandong Hair Mask

Hilton Hotels & Resorts has had a pretty great couple of years: They launched eforea: spa at Hilton, their new global spa concept (which was named a Finalist in our 2011 Silver Sage Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Resort Spa Brand), opened a new stateside spas in Short Hills, New Jersey (with one to come in Sedona, Arizona), and just last week launched the eforea spa at Hilton Collection, an online retail shop selling products used in eforea spas worldwide.

We had Tyra Lowman, senior director of global spa brands for Hilton Worldwide, share with us some of her top picks from the shop. Pick up a few for yourself, or with the holidays approaching, get some to give as gifts to your favorite pampered pals. You can purchase them online now at HiltontoHome.com. Happy shopping!

LiTya Quandong Hair Mask – Plant oils and the Australian superfruit quandong combine to deeply penetrate and heal the scalp while hydrating hair.

Kerstin Florian Multi Vitamin Day Crème SPF 30 – This lightweight, vitamin and antioxidant-packed lotion both hydrates and protects skin from the sun.

Vitaman Face Moisturizer – For the men, this face cream from Australian company Vitaman uses native Australian plant extracts to hydrate and soften skin.

California Wine Club

Looking for a fun holiday gift idea? Go beyond the standard bottle of wine and gift someone with a monthly wine membership from Bruce and Pam Boring’s California Wine Club. The couple has been exploring California’s smaller-run wineries for more than 20 years now, handpicking the state’s best limited-production wines, from Napa Valley Pinot Noirs to aged Cabernets. We love their dedication to finding the best tasting wines, and also their penchant for eco-friendly initiatives, as evidenced in the club’s ongoing Cork Drive, which encourages you to recycle your wine corks.

When you’re finished with your bottle, call 1-800-777-4443 (or e-mail corkdrive@cawineclub.com) and ask for a postage-paid “Put a Cork In It” envelope. When you return your recycled corks to the California Wine Club, you’re entered in contests to wine club memberships and SOLE footwear, a company that actually uses those recycled corks to make sandals. Once the club collects 20 million corks, the ReCORK recycling program will plant 1,000 trees in the Mediterranean oak cork forest. (They’re at 18 million and counting right now!)

Take advantage of the club’s current holiday promotion: Enter CORK at checkout when purchasing a wine membership at cawineclub.com, and you’ll receiver 20% off your order. It’s definitely a gift we’d be happy to receive this holiday season … and you bet we’ll be sending our corks back, as well!

Spotlight On Epicuren

We’re big fans of Epicuren Discovery, the California-based beauty company that uses a specially-formulated enzyme protein complex in its skincare products. Epicuren combines a protein enzyme with B vitamins to create a super-powerful metadermabolic enzyme. In simpler terms, the ingredients in Epicuren products help rejuvenate your skin, just like aerobic exercise rejuvenates the metabolism.

So, when we got our hands on a few of the brand’s Protein Mist Enzyme Activated Toners, we knew we had to share them with you in this month’s Spotlight On Product Giveaway. The toner – made with aloe leaf juice and lemon extract – can be sprayed on throughout the day to balance, hydrate and refresh skin.

Kimberly Sayer

We’re always looking for at-home beauty recipes and remedies, and knew Kimberly Sayer would be a great source. She’s been making her own body care products ever since she grew up up on her parents’ farm in England. After studying with some of London’s best, she launched her own 100% organic skincare line, Kimberly Sayer of London.

Here are two of Kimberly’s favorite tips for relieving puffy, tired eyes:

-Very simply grate a potato and collect the juice. Apply the potato juice to damp cotton pads and leave on the eye area for 15-30 minutes.

-For a relaxing treatment, boil chamomile tea bags and make tea, let tea cool and soak a pair of cotton pads. Apply to eyes for 1-2 minutes to heal skin and remove irritation caused by allergies.

Another great treat for puffy eyes? Kimberly’s Cellular Extract Eye Lift Gel, which she nicely gave us a couple of to give away to two of our readers. Head on over to our Sweepstakes page to enter!

KINeSYS UV Safe Timer

From our sunscreen picks to our expert suncare tips, we’re all about embracing the warm weather here at Spa. And now that summer officially arrives tomorrow, we’re ready to hit the beach and get some rays … responsibly!

To help with that, we love the new UV Safe Timer iPhone/iPad app from sunscreen company KINeSYS. After entering your skin type, the app checks the local weather and UV rating (even taking into account cloud coverage!) and calculates an appropriate time for sun exposure. Once time’s up, your phone will alert you to remind you to re-apply sunscreen. The best part? It’s free! You can download it in Apple’s iTunes App Store.

Enjoy the sun!

Healing Waters

We’re big believers in aromatherapy, so we love that beauty company Aromafloria was founded back in 1985 based on the idea that aromatherapy can truly achieve wellness. The company’s newer all-natural Healing Waters line, launched last fall, was pharmacist developed using essential aromatherapy oils, sea salts, lava clay mud and other therapeutic plant extracts. Just opening the Body Exfoliating Treatment sugar/salt scrub (made with sea salts and organic sugar granules) made my entire bathroom smell like I was at the spa.

We’ve got a prize pack of the line to give away! Head over to our Sweepstakes page to enter to win a four-pack of Healing Waters goodies.

image-joyful bath co bath salts
joyful bath co. bath salts

A soak in a hot bath feels great when it’s cold out, but the Joyful Bath Co. line makes it great for those sizzling summer months too. Professional photographer-turned-soil science expert Rochel Roland has created six sweet-smelling flavors — each with its own summer-inspired benefit.

The naturally exfoliating fine oats and lavender essential oils in the Oatsy Floatsie mixture soothe sunburn (along with bug bites and other skin irritations), while the peppermint and green tea in the Green Tea Glee recipe naturally stimulate and recharge after a tiring day in the sun. My favorite? Mellow Yellow, with rosemary, thyme and eucalyptus essential oils that left me completely relaxed after a long day at the beach.

The salts are available in 2 oz. packets ($5) and super-cute Mason Jar-inspired 8 or 16 oz. jars (from $16.50) and can be purchased at JoyfulBathCo.com.

beecology

Ever since Cleopatra first bathed in milk and honey to nourish her perfect porcelain skin, the beauty benefits of the sweet, syrupy treat have been well regarded by spa-goers and pros alike. Besides being a natural anti-aging agent and antiseptic, honey naturally moisturizes and contains a humectant that locks in that moisture -- without leaving your skin oily.

One company that has successfully reaped the benefits of honey: Beecology, a line of all-natural hair and body products that feature honey mixed with other beneficial botanicals, like yarrow and chamomile (in the Honey & Botanical Sulfate-Free Shampoo, $12.99) and lemongrass and lavender (found in the All Natural Body and Hand Soaps, $5.99 each). We love that owner David Rzepka cultivates the honey on his own Ohio bee farm, and donates 10% of every purchase to a charity of your choice.

We’re giving away a package of Beecology goodies to one lucky person: Click here to enter!
