This homemade facial mask (shared by Kirsten Corcoran, creative director of Larénim Mineral) is perfect for oily skin and made of ingredients readily available at health food stores. (If you're having trouble finding the clay, try mountainroseherbs.com.)

"Bentonite is a mineral-rich clay that helps draw out impurities and neutralize free radicals, while cider vinegar helps reestablish a healthy pH balance and jojoba oil dissolves sebum in pores," Corcoran explains. "This recipe could last you a lifetime. I've used this mask for three decades, and my five teens now use it too."

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. bentonite clay
  • 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. jojoba oil

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend for 10 seconds.
  2. Apply to the face with a brush or cotton square.
  3. Leave on for 20 minutes. Alternatively, use it to spot-treat blemishes overnight.
  4. To remove, simply wipe off using a cotton square and tepid water.

Note: Use the mask no more than once a week for the first six weeks. If you have no redness or irritation you can then use it twice a week, but more often than that is not recommended.
