3 Ways to Banish Bloat

To fight puffiness, make sure to steer clear of the heat (especially when doing any strenuous activity), skip salty foods, and avoid being sedentary for long periods of time. Still feel swollen? Turn to a spa treatment or product that stimulates circulation, rids the body of buildup, or strengthens the skin.

1. Stimulate

Invigorating scrubs increase circulation and decrease water retention.

At the spa The Lilikoi Lemongrass Scrub at Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s North Shore features lemon grass to encourage blood flow and reduce puffiness. ($125, 50 minutes)

At home Pick up Malie Organic’s Lilikoi Lemongrass Organic Body Polish and bring the relief wherever you roam. ($45)

2. Detoxify

Mud and clay draw fluids and impurities out of the skin so you feel slimmer.

At the spa Two Bunch Palms Resort & Spa in Palm Springs coats clients with detoxifying green clay in the Egyptian Clay Body Wrap. ($170, 90 minutes)

At home Ole Henriksen’s African Red Tea Indulgent Body Mask extracts toxins, especially when applied after exfoliating. ($65, olehenriksen.com)

3. Strengthen

Seaweed is often used in body wraps because it drains fluids and replaces them with cell-strengthening vitamins and minerals.

At the spa Red and brown seaweeds are used in the Black Pepper Slim Detox at The Spa at The Surrey in New York City. ($230, 90 minutes).

At home Repêchage Vita Cura Seaweed Bath is rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. ($40)
